Today starts a new mini-series blog on the down and dirty basics of your tube amp, and how and why it works. The web is full of great (and not so great!) content related to our amps, so here we can learn a little (or a lot) and feel more comfortable on what’s clicking and glowing inside of our amplifiers.
Our first posts will be an introduction to the basic components that are used in them such resistors, capacitors and transformers and how these relate to getting that sound to your ears. We will progress to the vacuum tube (and its successor the transistor), and wind down with the speaker.
Join me next week when we start exploring the resistor!
